Helpful Homemaking tip...:
Taking care of your septic tank can pay off in the long run. If you fail to maintain your system properly, the needed bacterias can be destroyed, thus causing a shutdown of the biological machine. After that, sludge will build up and push itself into the drainfield, from where it can clog up your system badly. One thing leads to another, and you have a major headache: a sewage backup. You pump the tank out, but you cannot pump out the drainfield. If you pump the tank on numerous, frequent occasions, you might find that you'll have to install an entirely new septic system altogether (which can cost several thousand). If you care for your system properly, it should last 20 years or more. Get your septic tank inspected by a pro every 2-4 years. Staggering the times you do water-hungry tasks throughout the day will also help minimize the strain on your system.
